True that! Unfortunately today many people share another characteristic of snowflakes: flakiness 🙂

Your comment reminded me of snowflakes. Billions of them, but there are never two the same. Just like humans.

Indeed, Franci! The navel piercings are one of the most common piercings. I am not a fan, but according to Dr Karl Kruszelnicki (see Ken's comment), navel rings dramatically reduce the "navel fluff" or even remove it altogether.

It would be great if Dr Karl is a member of beBee Science Café since he hosts his science radio show. He is my kind of scientist. 😊

Fascinating! Margaret Mead was right after all when she famously said: always remember you are unique, just like everyone else…

BTW, Lada, Karl Kruszelnicki is a well known ‘expert’ on anything and everything here in Oz. He is frequently on our local ABC Radio and is the author of several knowledgeable yet entertaining books, many of which I have on my bookshelf. I can’t remember, however, which one addresses blue belly button fluff, as they all cover a lot of topics. Affectionately known as Dr Karl, just Google his name if you wish to find and read any of them. 🤓 📖

Interesting article, Ken. This and several other articles I've read about belly button fluff, make me wonder about how many things we still don't understand about the human body and its mechanisms. As said in the article, the belly button is one of the habitats closest to us, and yet it remains relatively unexplored.

According to scientists, bacteria in belly buttons are so unique for each person. Therefore, they can be used to identify that person as accurately as their fingerprint could. 🤔
